At Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh Sahib which is situated in village Ghookewali, Tehsil Ajnala,  District Amritsar about 20 kms north of Amritsar, there are two historical Gurdwara Sahibs within the main complex, commemorating respectively Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji's (1563-1606)  visit in 1585 and Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib's visit in 1664. Guru Ka Bagh Sahib is laid out  on the site of a bagh (garden) which gave the place its name.  

Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib (1656-1664) the eighth Guru or prophet teacher of the Sikhs was the younger son of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib (1630-1661) the seventh Guru of the Sikhs and Mata Krishan Kaur Ji.

 Shaheed Bhai Taroo Singh Ji as a staunch follower of Sikhism. He was a brave and dauntless Sikh. He was born in a Jatt Sikh family of village Puhla, Tehsil Patti, District Tarn Taran of Punjab, which at that time fell in Tehsil Kasur of District Lahore (now in Pakistan).

 Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib (1595-1644) the Sixth Guru (prophet teacher) of the Sikhs was the only son of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the Fifth Guru of the Sikhs and Mata Ganga Ji. He was born on Har Vadi 7, 1652 Bikrimi i.e. June 19, 1595 at Vadali (now called Vadali Guru) about 7 kms west of Amritsar, District Amritsar, Punjab.

The Sikh history of the 16th, 17th and 18th century is replete with atrocities impinged on the Sikhs by the Mughal and Afghan invaders and their descendents who ruled India.

Sri Guru Amar Das Ji was born on Baisakh Sudi 14, 1636 Bikrami i.e. May 5,
1479 at Basarke Gillan village, which is about 13 kms. south-west from Amritsar, in
district Amritsar, Punjab. In his fond memory, in this village at his birth place Gurdwara
Sri Janam Asthan Sri Guru Amar Das Ji has been established.

The second prophet-teacher of the Sikhs, first known as Lahina Ji and then named 'Angad' by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on Baisakh Vadi 1, Sammat 1561 Bikrami which corresponded with 31 March, 1504.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib the ninth Guru of the Sikhs was born on April 1, 1621. His early name was Tyag Mal. He was the youngest son of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib (1595-1644) and Mata Nanki Ji. The other four sons included (i) Baba Gurditta Ji (ii) Suraj Mal Ji (iii) Anil Rai Ji and (iv) Atal Rai Ji.

Holla Mahalla, which is sometimes termed as ‘Holla’ is a Sikh festival. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (1666-1708) the tenth prophet-teacher of the Sikhs started Holla Mohalla a kind of March on Chet vadi 1 (the day after the full moon day), 1757 Bikrami of the lunar month of chet, the first desi month in the lunar calendar i.e. 22 February 1701 from Quilla Holgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, which now falls in Ropar District of Punjab.

Basanti means yellow colour and panchmi means the fifth day of the bright half of the
lunar month. Being ignorant about the origin and background of Basant Panchmi, in
general people consider it a socio-cultural festival and celebrate it with great pomp and
show.

Bhagat Ravidas Ji (1377-1527) was born to Raghu Ji and Ghurbinia Ji at Seer Goverdhanpur in Varanasi (also known as Banaras), Uttar Pradesh. In his sacred memory, at his birthplace, Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan Mandir has been established. The picture of this Mandir is being given at the end of this write-up. Throughout the year his followers visit this Mandir to pay respect to him and especially on his birthday lacs of his followers visit this sacred place to pay their obeisance.
